Privacy
This is a plain-language summary of what Tribute holds. Have a lawyer review it before relying on it commercially.
What we hold
For account holders: name, email address, phone number if given, and a hashed password. We never store passwords in a readable form.
For memorial pages: everything the family enters, which is published on the page and visible to anyone with the link unless the page is set to unlisted or private.
For visitors: we count page views and record the country, device type, and referring site. We do not build profiles of individual visitors.
Photographs
Uploaded photographs have their embedded camera data removed, including any GPS coordinates recorded by the phone that took them.
Payments
Card and Mobile Money details go directly to Paystack or Flutterwave and never reach our servers. We keep only the amount, the date, and a reference.
Who else sees it
We do not sell information, and we do not share it except with the payment and email providers needed to run the service, or where the law requires it.
Removing a page
You can delete a memorial page from your dashboard at any time, which removes its photographs from our servers. To close your account entirely, write to no-reply-mytribute@bgvinternetservices.com.
Visits to this site
When you open a page here, we record the page, the time, the kind of device, and the address your device is connecting from. From that address we work out the country and town, which tells us that someone read a memorial from London or from Kumasi. It does not tell us who you are, and we make no attempt to find out.
We use this to know how many people are reading, whether the site works on the phones people actually have, and to trace misuse when a family reports it. We do not sell it, we do not share it, and we do not use it to advertise to anyone.
Addresses are looked up through ip-api.com, which receives the address and nothing else. Records older than six months are deleted.
A family can see how many people opened their memorial page and how they arrived. They cannot see who, and neither can we tell them.
